Backpacking is all about adventure and experiencing the world. It can be one of the most rewarding ways to travel. For adventurers, it is exciting to think of seeing other places, experiencing other traditions and meeting other people with just a backpack. Backpacking can also be a way to travel the world on a budget. And there are plenty of places across the globe where you can easily backpack for just a few dollars a day. Here are the top 5 most affordable backpacking countries in the world.

Vietnam

Vietnam is incredibly backpacker-friendly. The prices in Vietnam are affordable. Not only that, the country also has plenty of sights, activities, and things to do that are either free or can be done for just a few dollars. The country’s greatest attraction is its sublime countryside with beautiful beaches and wonderful cities. The accommodation and food in this country are cheap and very high quality. There are plenty of great, cheap street food to choose from and cheap restaurants allow you to try some of the best ethnic dishes. The dorm rooms offer the best value, starting at around $4, while a private room starts at around $10.

India

India remains one of the ultimate destinations for budget travelers. It is one of the popular affordable backpacking countries which offer an experience of a lifetime. Backpacking in India is both easy and inexpensive. Whether you want to visit the Taj Mahal or to sleep in the city of Bollywood, India is one of the best countries for backpackers with dozens of cheap places to travel. The fascinating attractions, inexpensive destinations, rich culture and authentic cuisine makes India a perfect backpacker’s destination. Go Up the Table Mountain

This flat-topped mountain forms a dramatic backdrop to Cape Town and is known for being one of the New7Wonders of Nature. The Table Mountain is a great destination for adventurous individuals and nature lovers. Among the many activities that you can enjoy in Table Mountain are hiking, rock climbing, caving and mountain biking. You can hike your way up the mountain as it is known to be a hiker’s paradise with its numerous trails and amazing views. If you don’t feel like hiking, you can also ride the cable car going up and down the mountain.

Hiking in Lion’s Head

 

The Lion’s head is a mountain between the Table Mountain and Signal Hill. It resembles a proud lion overlooking the city of Cape Town. It offers a panoramic view of the city and the Atlantic Ocean. This mountain is a popular destination for those who want to see the incredibly beautiful sunrise and sunset of Cape Town. Hiking to the peak of Lion’s Head which is 700 meters above sea level takes more than an hour of a relatively easy hike. Take a Tour on Robben Island

 

Between the 17th and 20th centuries, Robben Island has been used as a prison, a hospital for lepers and a military base. The island is accessible to visitors through tours that depart from the V&A Waterfront. The tour consists of various historical sites on the island including the island graveyard, the disused lime quarry, Robert Sobukwe’s house, the Bluestone quarry, the army and navy bunkers, and the maximum security prison. The tour usually ends with a visit to Nelson Mandela’s cell.
